Computer Employment Skills – Level 3 / Practicum

 

Computer Employment skills 3 allows students the opportunity to apply the skills they have learned in levels 1 & 2 through a variety of short assignments. Students are provided the opportunity to increase their confidence by working their way through the assignments independently with the safety net of an instructor nearby should they run into a roadblock.

Students are also required to work on improving their typing skills through daily practice drills.

 

Computer Employment Skills III – Day 1 of 10

Workplace Conduct:

Discussion of how working in an office and or warehouse/shop environment is different than working in the field. Expectations regarding Conduct, Dress Code, schedules and attendance will be covered.

 

REVIEW of Levels I & II:

Students will spend the remainder of the day working through interactive assessments reviewing the skills of levels I & II to be applied to assignments during the remaining 9 days.

 

Mavis Beacon:

Students are required to spend a total of 1 hour per day (can be broken into several smaller periods of time) completing Mavis Beacon Typing Drills in order to improve their speed and accuracy.

 

Computer Employment Skills III – Day 2 of 10

The instructor will lead the students through one of today’s assignments as a group to illustrate the expectations for the assignments and some of the steps necessary to complete assignments.

 

Outlook:

Assignments today will include:

Creating tasks that will be managed for the remainder of the course.

Creating and sharing contacts

Creating Distribution lists

Creating automatic signatures

Managing/filing incoming messages (manually and automatically)

Using the Calendar to book appointments and send meeting requests

Personalizing calendar views

Creating specific folders to file daily assignments.
